Background-

Following the creation of the elemental sources, Gadigan created three guardians to protect and regulate each one. Gillingman was born into the universe as one of the three guardians of the Source of Darkness. He, like his two brothers, was an unimaginably powerful entity that could control the powers of the source itself; coupled with his own abilities, this made him able to do nearly anything. For thousands of years, Gillingman patiently waited, standing beside the source in center of the void where it lay, radiating out Darkness. Gillingman's brother, Ouettzer, decided that he was unsatisfied with his job of guarding the source, and he proposed a plan that he had been concocting for many ages. Ouettzer divided the source into three pieces, placing one in each of the brothers, explaining that if they were in different places, then it would be far harder for one foe to take control of the source. His brothers, Gillingman and Reddington, agreed. Ouettzer opened three gates leading from the void unto others worlds, and the three brothers each went through one, deciding to meet each other again to discuss their travels eventually.

Gillingman established an empire and created his multi-dimensional castle during this departure. Gillingman developed an intense interest in demon summoning and magical experimentation. He became a master of splicing beings together to create servants that possessed the combined powers of the original creatures, yet lacked the flaws of their progenators. Gillingman tested the limits of his powers, creating worlds, subduing demon gods, and bending dimensions to his will. He also learned how to almost fully control his portion of the source of darkness, a fact which soon came to save him.

Deciding that it would be best to have another being who could control the Source of Darkness should he or one of his brothers fall, Gillingman set about creating a daughter. He used his extensive knowledge of the creation and splicing of beings to create the irrindil. The irrindil, birthed from eggs created in the stomachs of daemons influenced by Gillingman's magics, possessed the appearances of children, yet they possessed all the powers of the daemons they were born from, as well as those gifted to them by Gillingman. Pleased with the initial results, Gillingman went on to improve the later generations of irrindil, until he was satisfied with those created from base daemons. Gillingman, seeking a more powerful daemons to test his experimentaions on, chose Malburgeon Zalderos, the King of Daemons, as the last major test subject of his project. Malbergeon had been seeking a worthy heir for years, so it took little persuasion for Gillingman to get Malburgeon to agree to ingesting the irrindil-creating potion. The result of this final test was Naria, princess of the daemons. Gillingman remained at Malburgeon's castle, observing her and making sure that the safeguards that he had placed in his formulas to ensure the loyalty and skill of the resultant being worked as intended. Gillingman was quite pleased by the princess, and he returned to his castle to finish the creation of his own daughter.

Gillingman progressed from using only daemons as bases for the irrindil, testing his formulas on powerful demons, elementals, and celestials. These creations turned out as well as the first, and Gillingman birthed his three head generals from such beings. Finally, after all his studies had concluded, Gillingman was prepared to craft the penultimate irrindil. Gillingman mixed together the essences of the demon gods, powerful celestials, and other great beings that he had imprisoned with his own seed and the mystic formula, creating an egg that glowed with power. From this egg hatched Marina, Gillingman's daughter. Marina, unlike the other irrindil, was capable of absorbing further essences after her creation, taking the powers of those that she and her father defeated for her own. Gillingman also began to train her in the control and use of the Source, a feat which formerly only he and his brothers could achieve.

Years after the creation of Marina, Gillingman again met with his brothers, Ouettzer and Reddington. Ouettzer appeared consumed by the desire for the other portions of the source, demanding them from his brothers. Reddington, on the other hand, appeared completely insane. Ouettzer, ignoring Reddington, attacked Gillingman when he refused to give him his portion of the source, but the battle was abruptly stopped when Reddington exploded in a shower of gore. His third of the source was split between the remaining two brothers, and a strange being emerged from his remains. Ouettzer, deciding that whatever could kill Reddington could also kill him or Gillingman, fled, leaving Gillingman, Marina, and Deraglio, who had arrived in persuit of Ouettzer, to confront the being. The trio managed to successfully defeat Dementiex, the spirit of insanity that had overcome Reddington, and Deraglio, though leery of leaving Gillingman and his daughter alive, left to continue his hunt of Ouettzer.

Shortly after Deraglio's departure, Bill and Ronald appeared before Gillingman. They began to explain the prophecies of Oracle to him, noting that he had an important part in them. Their discourse was interrupted, however, by Ouettzer's acquiring the three Instruments of Divinity. Gillingman, at the behest of Bill and Ronald, brought his armies to bear against Ouettzer's forces on the Plain of Blood. Gillingman, Marina, and the other individuals that Bill and Ronald had collected to assist the defeat of Ouettzer fought against the would-be-tyrant's legion while Deraglio, aided by Bill, confronted Ouettzer in the subdimension where Ouettzer was conducting the ritual nessecary to activate the full capabilities of the artifacts he had acquired. The great conflict resulted in the deaths of Ouettzer and Deraglio, the disappearance of Bill and Ronald, and Gillingman obtaining the final portion of the Source of Darkness.

Gillingman, now the sole guardian of the Source, returned to his realm, continuing his experimentations and investigating into the possible whereabouts of the departed duo, seeking further knowledge of the prophecies from them. Gillingman again turned his gaze to the doings of Naria and her father, and he found them engaged in a great war against the Celestial Realm. Though their armies were defeated due to the treachery of one of their allies, Gillingman managed to save the two from death at the hands of the celestials.

Presently, Gillingman is assisting Naria, who has now fully recuperated from her defeat, in the re-establishment of a second Dark Empire. Seeking to expand his spheres of influence and prepare for a conflict alluded to in one of the prophecies, Gillingman now openly supports the empire, working to sway all dealings in favor of the daemon princess.
