Background-

Doctor Beak was spontaneously generated from the lands of the Dusk Realm between the time of the first Dark Empire's fall and the re-creation of the New Dark Empire at the hands of Naria and Gillingman. Along with Beak came his city, Gilbezber, a sprawling city rife with plagues and Beak's minions. Beak resided within the hospital at the town's center, and, until the return of Naria and his appointment as her advisor, rarely left it, preferring his experimentations on diseases and their virulence to the more common priorities of daemon lords, such as expansion, war, and the governing of vast swaths of holding. Beak, in an effort to maintain order, created his nurses and army, having the nurses run the city's administrative tasks and his army's officers prevent any uprising in his slave population.

Though Beak was content to experiment on his populace in solitude, only occasionally taking new territory that slipped into the Dusk Realm near his established lands, his rival daemon lords had no intentions of allowing him to do so. Seeing the new archdaemon, who paid little attention to military tasks and wars, as easy prey, a group of other daemonic lords formed a temporary coalition to assault Gilbezber, defeat Beak, and split his holdings between them.

Beak's foes stormed Gilbezber with relitively little trouble. While the lesser daemons and non-daemon slave troops died in droves to the diseases released against them, the city's defenses quickly crumbled when the five daemon lords themselves began to attack it, summoning forth great bursts of fire and waves of killing magic. The Doctor, annoyed by this unwanted intrusion of his city, left the cloistered walls of his hospital and confronted the invaders' leaders. Within minutes, the opposing archdaemons had been stripped of their immunities to Beak's plagues and were writhing on the ground in agony as they died of blistering fevers, necrotising flesh ailments, fetid, bursting pustules, and other vicious ailments. Nobody attacked Beak after that.

Beak, having taken the lands of his defeated foes, became the leader of the one of the Dusk Realm's most prominent city states. Despite this, Beak still maintained his low level of interest in daemonic politics and intrigue. Beak remained distant from the major events of the daemon world until the re-arrival of Naria.

Beak, deciding that the empire created by Naria, Maleficus, and Gillingman would be the optimal government for a unified Dusk Realm, a concept which appealed to Beak, was one of the first rulers to throw his lot in with Naria and swear fealty to the daemon princess. He now serves as Naria's top tactical advisor and the head of her biological and deamonic weapons reasarch divisions.
