Zeph does indeed lose control of the robes (and presumably the ruse he's been keeping up as well). He heads back to the meeting point as soon as he is able.

For convenience, which characters witnessed 'Cael's' evaporating act?



"Mr. Slizer? My word! However are you managing to contact me? I can't see you around anywhere!" Rosaline trills, fascinated. Should the little people appear confused (or not able to hear Alrick's side of the conversation), the lady will mention how she's being contacted by one of her wonderful companions through some sort of magic or other.
"A pet store? Why, that's exactly what I needed! I've met this simply delightful little society that's set itself up in a shoe shop, but they have a bit of a rat problem. Some petfood as bait or similar items to lure the pests out and remove them would be ideal! Please, do give me directions and let them know I'll be on my way as soon as possible!"

Rosaline turns back to the little folk. "I've been told the location of an area where I might find bait with which to lure those nasty creatures out, that I might dispose of them for you. I'm certain it won't take too long- I should be back in hardly any time at all!"
She turns her head to face her little shoulder-person.
"I'm afraid you'll have to stay in here, my fine fellow. To say the world outside holds some measure of danger is something of an understatement, to say the least- at least, the areas off the main roads, at any rate."

Alrick saw Cael disapear, but he just assumes it's some weird effect of the whole arena member respawning thing, so he doesn't get too suspicious.

"I've got an awesome palmcorder that let's me call pretty much anyone." Alrick responds to Rosaline's qustion and then proceedes to tell her the location of the pet store. "Jessie, Tia, and Zeo are in there right now. It sounds like they've searched the place pretty well so they can probably tell you where whatever you're looking for is. They were also hoping that you could help them open a few locks."

Once enough time has passed...
"Mr. Slizer."
In the shadows surrounding the portal, a tall figure wearing a long, ghostly coat beckons, collar turned up against any residual light. Its skin is so pale as to be almost completely white, and a long sheet of blonde hair covers whatever else might be exposed to the outside world.
"Mr. Slizer. If you might return my robes?" Caelum Aetherius asks.


"Marvelous!" Rosaline enthuses. "I'll be there in a trice!"
Nodding politely to the assorted little folk (and putting the shoulder-person back down with them for now), Rosaline once more assures them she'll be back to deal with the rat problem as soon as possible and carefully closes the door after herself, heading towards the petshop.

"Here you go." Alrick tosses Cael the robes. "Guess the respawning still has a few glitches."

[Aeromage]

"Not at all. Myself and Zephyrus are something of a... special case. It is difficult to explain, but suffice it to say that if one should fall, so, too does the other."
A pause.
"I would appreciate it if this revelation did not leave this small group. For a spirit tamer such as myself to have linked himself so closely to what other tamers see as just a tool is seen as... something of an atrocity."
Cael re-robes himself.
"It appears that that particular plan will not work. However, knowing the birds are so easily provoked may be a useful piece of information."

"Maybe Kit could lure them away with her teleportation or freeze them in time for a couple minutes."

Kit speaks up.
"I couldl, but still, not so sure if i coudl freeae them. they are strong."

Calls are made. Alrick learns the vague location of the shop.


Jessie fails at opening this door, as it is locked.


Draconics: When you say "odd keys", do you mean the ones from the filing cabnet?


People who have died remain unbuffed at the moment.


The tiny people take rosaline's conversation somewhat in stride, though many of them cringe and cover their ears as if in pain at the louder points of rosaline's conversation. I'm assuming she begins talking quieter quickly. The little guy on her shoulder seems not to wish to leave his spot, and has put on something of a stubborn face at the prospect. Is she forcing him off, trying more negotiation, leaving with him..?



Jessie learns the vague location of the pet store.



Cael eventually returns about a bit under an hour later. The portal's actually a long distance from where the island is currently stationed.

The clockwork lady does indeed modulate her tones to prevent herself from deafening the tiny populace.

Rosaline sighs. "I'm afraid I simply can't ensure your safety outside of these walls- even I have barely escaped with my life on several occasions. If you still wish to risk yourself outside of the shop, I must warn you that there is a chance you could be seriously hurt, or worse."

If he insists on staying, Rosaline will move him to a more secure location in the band of her hat and exit for the pet shop.



In the absence of anything else to try for now, Zeph will begin reading the wind again to see if there's anything of interest in the area other than the island.

Alrick tells Rosaline how to get to the pet shop (more or less). For now, he continues flying around the island (far enough away not to attract the attention of the birds), looking for some way through the barrier. While he's at it, he'll use the palmcorder to keep a line of communication open with Cael, Kit, and others stuck outside the barrier in case they figure out some way through.

Was Jessie's group able to take the lockbox and coffee machine from earlier? I don't believe that was ever answered. Anyway, while waiting for Rosaline to arrive, they begin walking through the aisles again, looking for any other particularily valuable and/or powerful items. They'll also stop and examin any live pets they come across.
